Collezione Nancy Delroi is an italo-lebanese artistic duo founded by Désirée Nakouzi De Monte and Andrea Parenti in Milan-March 2024. Their practice was shaped over a decade of collaboration as co-directors of MRZB Art Group , active between Amsterdam, Turin, and Milan. Collezione Nancy Delroi’s practice articulates its language through the détournement of clichés and the tensions of a performative community, built on the edge of the rupture of contemporary society. Grimy collages made from dismantled sofas reconfigure the authority of the Old Master in the trauma and obsolescence of domestic residue; A misé-en-scene—furniture fragments, emptied middle-class symbols—assembled into pathetic yet deliberate compositions that aim to evoke new cult-like imaginary.

During the opening of New Cult-like Images or Come il patto tra adulti diventa un trattato di strategia affettiva, the Fifteen figures tableaux by Collezione Nancy Delroi and the sculptural paintings by Wilhelmina Merante + Leyla Riggio were showcased as a staged scene that doubles as the set for a non-exhaustive series of seated moments — intimate acts and tableaux that become an impromptu stage for short film scenes, entirely improvised by the audience. These unscripted neo-realist films expand the ongoing film cycle—including You Kill Me Second and Anna Smoking Cigarettes—premiering throughout the following week on a four-monitor CRT display. THIRST: Justapposing abreactive theatrics, staged happenings, filmic sequences, the work follows a group of alienated, doomed and romantic characters drifting through the suburbia of leather bars, basement clubs, lost highways, hotel rooms, run-down galleries and cramped crowded apartments. Cliched lines, potential appropriations from 90’s tv melodramas coexist with existential punch-lines, pop-songs with electro-clash beats and industrial run-away music with shoegaze riffs and new romantics attitudes. A slightly sensual lower class southern suburban chic mirrors in the melodramatic scenarios and decadent sets.the work cannibalizes desperate literary, cinematic, fashion and artistic references for the articulation of a postmodern filmic drama mixing elements of genre-cinemas in the tradition of neo- noir, horror, pulp, fashion, road & b-movies. In interrupting and negating the language of the spectacle – ruination of the plot, the script, the characters, the design, the production, the staging, thirst creates a cathartic space, an allegorical and self-parodic mise-en-scène of the artist’s process and collective practice.
